The Sharp SV-5128ST-F vertical machining center is engineered to have unsurpassed quality and outperform all other machines in its category. This is an extremely rigid “C” frame design using hardened and ground box ways. It has an extra long cross travel (27.5”) that allows large work piece to be machined in one set up. All structural components are made of Meehanite casting with internal ribs running throughout each section. Precision hand scraping of each section provides near perfect alignment assuring long term accuracies.
Features and Benefits
- Structural mating surfaces are precision hand scraped to increase the flatness and to improve geometric accuracy (straightness and squareness) of the whole assembly. This provides near perfect alignment assuring long term accuracy.
- The 4 slide ways are hand scraped, hardened and ground. Box ways have superior vibration damping capacity than linear ways and can be used on severe machining applications. During a crash, they are less susceptible to damage due to large contact surface. The extra long 27.5” cross travel allow large work piece to be machined in one set up instead of turning around to machine the opposite side.
- The bottom of the large table showing fully ribbed casting to eliminate distortion under heavy cutting. The slide ways are hand scraped, the coated with TURCITE to retain lube oil and to resist wear. Oil channels are milled to allow lube oil to reach all the sliding areas.
- The accuracy and repeatability of the machine is calibrated by laser interferometer. The ball bar test ensures the actual circular path matches the programmed circular path.
